  • Steve: Up Front Bait and Tackle.
  • LPC: Oh, yeah. Fishin’ store?
  • Steve: Yeah.
  • LPC: Yeah, hi.
  • LPC: I'm Reese Baptiste.
  • LPC: I'm Newentown here, and I was looking for a new fishing store.
  • Steve: Okay.
  • LPC: So you guys are close to me here.
  • Steve: Okay.
  • LPC: So I need to get a new fish and pole.
  • LPC: Last place I went to sold me the short one, you know?
  • LPC: Whenever I reeled it in, I had fish flipping like wild off my hook.
  • LPC: Oh, they were spinning like wildfire on there.
  • LPC: And then I went back there and he sold me a rod that was so long.
  • LPC: I actually hooked some owl out of a tree.
  • LPC: It was bizarre.
  • LPC: Real bizarre.
  • LPC: So I need something that's going to do the job is what I'm trying to say.
  • Steve: Well, the only way I can figure that out is where you’re fishing and a—and whereabouts you’re going.
  • LPC: Oh, I wanted to do some brackish fishing primarily.
  • Steve: That’s not answering my question—is whether you’re going fishing on a pier, a bulkhead, or a beach?
  • LPC: Hey, guy, I'm up at 2.2.30 in the morning, sorting my worms.
  • LPC: You know, I got hookworms, round worms, ribbon worms.
  • LPC: I got worms going wild in my tool shit.
  • LPC: So I just need something to reduce jigging.
  • LPC: I don't got time for backlash on my spool.
  • LPC: Does that answer your question?
  • Steve: No.
  • Steve: What I'm looking for is whether you're fishing on the beach, on the pier, or a bulkhead.
  • LPC: Oh, off a pier.
  • Steve: On a pier.
  • Steve: Are you fresh water or salt water?
  • Steve: You can be doing striped bass fishing, which is salt water, or you can do fresh water fishing, which is largemouth bass bass,
  • Steve: crop east of town, which you're looking for.
  • Steve: I don't know where you're going to fish at.
  • Steve: That's why I'm asking you where are you going.
  • LPC: Well, brackish.
  • Steve: So you're fishing a river.
  • Steve: So you're looking for.
  • Steve: or something about an eight or nine foot fishing pole.
  • LPC: Okay.
  • LPC: Whatever you recommend, I mean.
  • Steve: Okay.
  • Steve: Well, the only thing I can tell you to do is stop on by and we'll go from there.
  • LPC: I wanna look into maybe usin’ some buzzbait or bucktail—
  • LPC: —You got any o’ that up ‘ere?
  • Steve: I do.
  • LPC: Somethin’ where I can do bottom bouncing under my boat, there.
  • Steve: Well, once again, you have to come down so we can figure it out.
  • Steve: I can't do anything on phone because you can't see it.
  • Hook House: Hello, this is Hookhouse Bates and Tackle.
  • Hook House: Monday through Thursday, we're open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Steve: What the heck?
  • LPC: What’s the bag limit around here, anyhow—
  • Steve: What was that in the background that I just heard?
  • LPC: I thought that was on your end.
  • Steve: No, that was on your end.
  • LPC: Hey, I’m the only one here, guy.
  • Steve: Atlantic P.
  • Steve: Who is this?
  • Steve: Atlantic P.
  • Steve 2: Atlantic B.
  • Steve 2: Wow.
  • Steve: Who is this, Pete?
  • Steve 2: No.
  • Steve: Who’s on the phone?
  • Steve 2: I’m Steve.
  • Steve: I don't know who's doing this.
  • Steve: Somebody's playing games here.
  • LPC: What?
  • Steve: Up front bait and tackle.
  • LPC: Hey, Guy, I'm sorry we keep getting cut off here.
  • LPC: I'm just trying to figure out what's going on.
  • Steve: I keep getting hooked between you and another bait and tackle store.
  • Steve: I don't know who you're trying to call, but I don't understand this, and I'm not going to deal with
  • Steve: it any longer.
  • Steve: So at this point, that's twice it's happening, and other tackle stores are answering in the
  • Steve: background.
  • Steve: Either you call them more than one place at one time.
  • Steve: Well, this is a complete scam.
  • Steve: Because all of a sudden, there was three people on the phone, one from Atlantic bait, and
  • Steve: somebody else, say, who are you and what do you want?
  • LPC: Okay, guy. What time do you open up ‘ere—
  • LPC: —is the last thing I need to find out.
  • Steve: Five o'clock in the morning.
  • LPC: Okay, and if I wanna pick up a shoal, for instance, can I get a downrigger from ya, or a fish finder?
  • Man 1: Fisherment Supply.
  • Man 1: Fisherman Supply.
  • Steve: Hey, fishermen supply.
  • Steve: Can you hear me?
  • Man 1: Yes.
  • Steve: I don't know what this is, but this guy that's calling me is calling you at the same time, and this is ridiculous.
  • Steve: I mean, I'm not trying to, I did not call you.
  • Steve: Somebody else did.
  • Steve: They called me, and then they called you at the same time.
  • Steve: I don't know if you've got the same phone number coming through your phone numerous times, but I just did.
  • Steve: You know, I apologize for this.
  • Steve: I'm a bait-and-tackle store up north, and I know that who you guys are, Fisherman Supply is very popular.
  • Steve: And I apologize, but I'm not the one doing this.
  • Man 1: Okay, yeah, I don't know what's going on, but I appreciate it.
  • Steve: Yep, no problem. Bye.
  • Steve: Okay, thanks.
  • Steve: I'm from beating tackle.
  • LPC: I was lookin’ for some, ah, barbs, or what kind you would recommend.
  • Steve: What kinda barbs are you lookin’ for?
  • LPC: Well, that’s what I’m tryin’ to find out, what kind ya got and how much they are.
  • Steve: What are you trying to do with it?
  • LPC: I'm trying to fish.
  • LPC: Here, first thing that's on the morning.
  • Steve: You know? Who's this?
  • Steve: I don't know. I can't see it.
  • Steve: Give me three guesses.
  • Steve: Who’s this?
  • Steve: I don't know. Who's on the phone right now?
  • Steve: Because some guy keeps playing games with my phone over here, and I'm getting a little crazy.
  • Pete: Now, this is Atlantic bait and tackle.
  • Pete: Did he bait? I got bait.
  • Steve: Hey, Pete, how you doing, Pete?
  • Steve: This is, Steve.
  • Steve: I'm from up front.
  • Steve: Hey, listen, I'm from up front bait and tackle.
  • Steve: I did not call this number.
  • Steve: Somebody else called this number and then connected to two of them.
  • Pete: All right.
  • Pete: No problem.
  • Pete: All right.
  • Steve: Have a good day, man. Sorry about that.
  • Pete: Yeah, you too. Bye now. Right.
  • Steve: Bye. Bye. Bye.
  • LPC: [sfx] Yeah, Up Front Bait? Can ya hear me?
  • Steve: Well, he's walnut farm.
  • Woman: Yes. Hello. How can I help you?
  • Steve: Who is this?
  • Woman: This is the bait and tackle store.
  • Steve: You know, I'm sorry to say this, but somebody's playing around with our phones.
  • Steve: —calling me and callin’ somebody else together, and the two of us—for some strange reason, they’re hanging up—
  • Steve: We're getting connected.
  • Steve: I don't know what's going on.
  • Steve: It's driving me crazy.
  • Steve: I don't know if you're getting the same thing over and over and over and over and over again.
  • Woman: No, I’m not—
  • Woman: So the gentleman said that somebody was going to go on the phone that needed to buy some bait or some tackle.
  • Woman: And then you came on.
  • Woman: So I...
  • Steve: I'm sorry.
  • Steve: They're doing the same thing to me.
  • Steve: I'm a bait and tackle store myself.
  • Steve: Okay.
  • Woman: —Ah! Okay!—
  • Steve: This is what they're doing.
  • Steve: They're playing games.
  • Steve: with the two of us, and they've been doing it now for about a half an hour.
  • Steve: So every time the guy calls me, he calls me first, then he calls another store, and then when we
  • Steve: pick up, he hangs up.
  • Steve: I'm driving me freezing.
  • Steve: Just letting you know what's going on.
  • Steve: I don't want you to think it was me calling you, but this is, this is, this is the, about six
  • Steve: four call in a row that I've gotten.
  • Woman: Well, I’m glad that we straightened that out.
  • Steve: I just don't want to see it keep happening to you, too, as well, because this would really be
  • Steve: in the right of both of us.
  • Woman: Because the.
  • Woman: The number comes up unavailable.
  • Steve: —Right, and it’s comin’ over here as a private number, yes—
  • Steve: —And I tried calling it back and it won’t go through.
  • Man 2: Hello?
  • Woman: All right.
  • Steve: All right.
  • Steve: Now we've got a third one.
  • Steve: I don't know if you heard them.
  • Steve: Can you hear him in the background?
  • Woman: Yes, hello.
  • Man 2: Hi, this is tightline sliding.
  • Woman: Yes.
  • Man 2: Hello.
  • Steve: See, now they did it again.
  • Steve: They got three of us connected.
  • Steve: Do you hear that?
  • Steve: Hello?
  • LPC: Yeah, hello.
  • LPC: I'm looking for nice.
  • LPC: crawlers up here?
  • Steve: I'm sorry.
  • Andy: Is Captain Andy Rich Tide bait and tackled?
  • LPC: Is anybody there?
  • Man 2: Yeah, I got you now.
  • Man 2: This is Tightline's fly fishing.
  • Man 2: We don't have any live bait at all.
  • Man 2: I'm sorry.
  • Eric: Hi, this is Captain Eric with Saltwater Therapy Chargers.
  • Eric: I'm out fishing right now.
  • Eric: I'll give you a call when I return.
  • Eric: Have a great day.
